Legend

Product Description
Tom Cruise stars in this visually-stunning fantasy adventure in which pure good and evil battle to the death amidst spectacular surroundings. Set in a timeless mythical forest inhabited by fairies, goblins, unicorns and mortals, this fantastic story has Tom Cruise as a mystical forest dweller, chosen by fate to undertake a heroic quest. He must save a beautiful princess, Mia Sara, and defeat the demonic Lord of Darkness, Tim Curry, or the world will be plunged into a never-ending ice age. Co-starring Billy Barty and Alice Playten and directed by Ridley Scott, famed for his remarkable settings and unparalleled imagery, the incredibly realized fable is the stuff movie legends are made of.Amazon.com essential video
This strange, 1985 experiment by Ridley Scott (Blade Runner) starred the up-and-coming Tom Cruise in a fairy-tale world of dwarfs and unicorns and demons. After the horn of a unicorn is broken, darkness and winter descend upon the world. Cruise’s character, helped along by a magic sprite played by David Bennent (The Tin Drum), descends into hell to save paradise. This movie is almost a classic case of art direction gone amok. The somewhat amorphous Cruise doesn’t lend much dramatic focus or artistic definition, but the drama between Tim Curry’s satanic majesty and Mia Sara’s character, who becomes a sort of princess of the netherworld, is pretty captivating. A mixed experience all around that makes one wish it had been more successful. –Tom Keogh

Since first seeing the Lord of the Rings movies of Peter Jackson fame i became interested in myths and fantasy and related films. But I have been sadly dispointed. You see, few other directers of fantasy/mythology flicks have the grand vision and talent of Peter jackson who is a *true* genius :)

Case in pont: this piece of junk from the dark ages aka the 80s [how did people stand these bad movies or did they just not know better??]

More camp cute stuff that does not take fantasy/mythology *seriously* and does NOT aspire to be a truly great film. The story is stupid, the characters shalow, the music is bad and the acting is supposed to be funny but ISNT.

Funny how it took one man [PJ :)] to make a fantasy/myth worth watching. And dont say it wuz all cuz Tolkin cuz i tried to read that book and it stinks (see my review for FOtR). i mean maybe back in the 50s when it was writen noone cared about plot or character but Pete obviously saw the *potential* of the material and he DID something with it unlike the people who made THIS piece of junk.

Just cuz its fantasy dont mean its gotta be for kids!!

This movie is ridiculously lame. I will never watch it again. the only good thing about it is how it ‘looks’ the costumes and stuff are nice. They barely talk in the movie and the story will put you to sleep (since there isnt much of one anyway). I just don’t see the point. This is probably one of my least favorite movies of all time. This movie is barfy and I hate it.

This is a horrible movie about a guy and gal (Dentally retarded Tom Cruise and Mia Sara), who love each other…..blah blah blah.
When the Lord of Darkness (Tim Curry in a damn stupid costume) kills a unicorn for its horn, the world plunges into an ice age. He kidnaps the gal, so the guy has to save her and the world…yuk

First of all, this movie should not have been rated PG. The costume of Tim Curry was a bit frightening, and definitely would have made a 7-year-old pass out. The storyline sucked, and Tom Cruise’s companions who help him rescue Mia Sara were plucked out of an ’80s Jim Henson movie, excluding Gump, A Midsummer Night’s Dream Puck’s look-alike…..DON’T BUY THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!

“Legend” well it has some….NO THE BEST SPECIAL EFFECTS I’VE SEEN FOR AND OLD 80′S FANATSY FILM!!!…But if a movie’s only Redeeming Quality is Good “Special Effects and make up” Than it is truly NO MOVIE AT ALL.And From What I’ve Seen “The World Of Legend” isn’t much of a world at all.The Whole Movie seems Quite “Compact.” Their is only two places I’ve seen: a Forest(Where Jack Spends time with Lily.)And Those Deep underground caves where Darkness Dwells.Anyway,Deep Down In My Opinion This Is Like Watching Grass Grow, Compared To “The Lord Of The Rings.”(My Favorite Film of All time.)I mean There was Two Parts In “The Fellowship Of The Ring”,That almost made me Cry!!!!(The Part Where Gandalf Dies, and Where Sam Shows That he is indeed a true Friend.)As For as Legend goes There’s Not Any Part where I almost CRIED,Because I don’t Even Care For The Characters!!!!Nor For The Movie Itself. This Movie (Like Rogert Ebert Said)Is Just Too Dark and Gloomy For Its Own Good.

1)If you’re an 80s fan, you’ll like this.
2)If Aragorn’s hidiousness bothered you in LOTR, at least Tom Cruise looks great with short hair & has a hawt voice to boot. Not to mention he was like 20 when he was in it. & no beard!
3)LOTR has a funny gay elf & funny gay hobbits, Legend has a funny elf with a voice that will stick in your head for years to come, a fairy with a tude, & a bunch of dimwit drunk dwarves.
4)Lilly isn’t annoying like Arwin.
5)If you liked David Bowie’s Labrynth, you gotta see this.
6)It’s got great music.
7)It has Orc-like demons who are far more ammusing.
8)The dance sceen in Hades was too cool!
9)Has some pretty amasing special effects & costumes for the 80s & spiffy unicorns. The demon king is nifty looking.
10)It doesn’t go on-&-on-&-on like LOTR.
